aboutI interned with Patch, an online news platform designed to keep communities informed with the latest hyperlocal news coverage, photos, videos and events. As an intern, I wrote news stories, created photo galleries and shot and edited videos for several Patches in Baltimore and Harford counties.

During the first half of my internship, I mostly worked with the local editor of Bel Air Patch, attending Board of Education and town hall meetings, covering neighborhood public hearings and writing feature stories.

For the second half of the internship, I took over as “guest editor” of Aberdeen, a community in Harford County known for its army base and Ripken-owned, minor league baseball team. As guest editor, I was responsible for uploading all content to the site, managing Aberdeen’s Twitter account, editing freelancers’ stories and columns — in addition to writing my own original articles.
