WICB Election Center Coverage

“Election Center 2012” was one of my biggest projects as WICB news director. I was responsible for the three-hour, live broadcast as co-host, engineer, and executive producer. We stationed reporters at the Tompkins County Democratic headquarters and Republican headquarters in Corning, NY, in addition to reporters outside of the White House in Washington, DC. During the broadcast, we took calls from our reporters, who provided updates at the headquarters and interviews with some of the candidates and local party leaders. The bulk of the broadcast was spent providing updates and analysis on a local Common Council race in Ithaca, NY, the New York state legislature candidacies, a US House race for New York’s 23rd district, and the presidential results. Leading up to the night of the election, I also organized several live or pre-recorded interviews with some of the local and state candidates, which aired on WICB’s local news program, Ithaca Now, during the weeks before the election. We aired short snippets of these interviews during “Election Center” as well.

Here are several clips from “Election Center 2012.”

On the Sunday following the 2012 election, I wrote and edited this “recap” story, which aired on WICB’s Ithaca Now.
